Balthali village trek is one of the easiest and most beautiful trek. It is a four day trek that takes place just outside the Kathmandu valley. The village of Balthali lies in Kavrepalanchowk district. It is an old settlement which has still preserved the ancient ways of rural Nepal.
It has not been disturbed by rampant modernity. The village is characterised by white washed houses, terraced fields and beautiful green hills to its every side. From the northern part of the village, you will be able to watch a number of tall mountains including Everest.
The hike to Balthali starts from Panauti, an ancient city that lies 6 Km south of Banepa. We will cross two rivers via suspension bridges. The forests on the way is populated by many variety of birds and occasionally showing wild animals.
The hike takes about two hours. We have the option to stay in Balthali village homestays or at one of the resorts in the outskirts. Homestay is recommended.
We will trek to the Namobuddha Monastery next day. This is the place where Lord Buddha cut his flesh to feed a starving tigress. We will enjoy visit to the majestic Monastery, explore the hills and enjoy the tranquil surrounding.
From Namobuddha, we will head for Dhulikhel, another town in Kavrepalanchowk. We will end our foot journey in Dhulikhel and catch a vehicle to Kathmandu from there.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,300 m/4,265 ft
We will pick you up at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Our team will drive you to your hotel in a private vehicle. You will have some rest in your hotel after freshening up. We will enjoy a wonderful musical and cultural evening in Thamel. You will have traditional Nepali dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant with Ambition Himalaya team.We will brief you about the upcoming trek after dinner.
Day 02: Drive to Panauti and trek to Balthali
Time: Three and half hours
Panauti is an ancient town in Kavrepalanchowk district. It lies about 35 Km away from Kathmandu. It has an ancient Vishnu Temple and temples dedicated to celestial gods - the Sun and the Moon. It is believed that the whole of Panauti lies atop a single rock. Panauti is famous for a Mela (religious gathering) that takes place every 12 years.
We will tour Panauti briefly. We will then head for Balthali, which lies about two hours of walk away from Panauti. We will cross rivers and green forests. The forest is full of chirping birds and wild berries. Balthali is a picturesque village. It is surrounded by green hills on all side. Terraced fields and classical Nepali houses make Balthali. We will either stay in a resort or in a homestay.
Day 03: Visit around Balthali and walk to Namobuddha
We will visit Balthali village following breakfast. We will head for its northern part, from where the mountains are in wonderful view. The tallest peak in the world, Mount Everest, also lies on sight. Dada Gaon is a village of Tamang people and lies on our way. They are a Buddhist community and have been living in this place for a long time.
We will then head for Namobuddha, the famous Buddhist Monastery. The area surrounding Namobuddha Monastery is serene and breathtaking. We will stay overnight in the Namobuddha Monastery.
Day 04: Visit to Dhulikhel and drive to Kathmandu
We will head for Dhulikhel today. The way to Dhulikhel passes through Kavre Bhanjyang (Kavre Pass). We will go to the Dhulikhel hilltop first. There is a giant statue of Lord Buddha here. The place also provides a wonderful sightseeing opportunity.
We will descend to Dhulikhel, which is an ancient trading town. Dhulikhel is also a popular tourist destination. We will enjoy the scenery around Dhulikhel for a few hours and head back to Kathmandu on a private vehicle waiting for us.
