TRIP INTRODUCTION

The Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek is probably the best short trek in Nepal. It includes eight days of wonderful trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary. The highlight of the trek is the beautiful sunrise and mountain view from the top of Poon Hill. Poon Hill is located at a short hike from Ghorepani.

The Gurungs are the main settlers of the Annapurna region. We will be staying with them for most of our trek. We will get a glimpse of their culture and tradition while spending night at their homestays. The Gurung people are renowned for their hospitality.

You will wake up with the chirping birds in the morning. The trekking path is covered by dense rhododendron, pine and oak forests. Waterfalls and steams flow in numbers in the subtropical valleys of the Annapurna. You will experience life as experienced by an ancient saint.

Ghandruk village is another highlight of the trek. It is a beautiful Gurung village that is famous for its panoramic mountain view. Ghandruk is also a popular one night hiking destination because of its proximity from Nayapul, the place where our trek starts.

We meet typical Nepali villages on our way like - Matathanti, Ramgai, Sudame and Hile. We follow the Modi river which gets more turbulent as we move uphill. We reach Tikhedhunga for evening stay. We will return back to our homestay after a wonderful morning experience in Poon Hill. We will then begin our trek to Ghandruk after breakfast. We will walk through rhododendron forest after leaving Ghorepani and reach a place called Bhaisi Kharka. Bhaisi Kharka means buffalo grazing pasture in Nepali.
