Gokyo Lakes are situated in Khumbu/Everest region and considered as most sacred by both Hindus and Buddhist religions. Gokyo is very famous among tourists and expedition lovers and making the way towards Everest Base Camp. From the top of Gokyo, you will have the 360-degree view of beautiful mountain peaks.

Gokyo Lake is situated at the altitude of 4700 M to 5000 M above the sea level. This lake lies in Khumjung village of Solukhumbu district. The Gokyo Lake is sacred for both Hindus and Buddhists. Gokyo valley is one of the most beautiful landmark present in Khumbu area. In the Gokyo valley you will find Nepal’s largest Glacier “Ngozumba” and many other magnificent glacial lakes. From Gokyo you can capture the breathtaking view of beautiful mountain peaks like Mount Everest (8,848 M), Cho-Oyu (8,201 M), Lhotse (8,516 M) and Makalu (8,481 M) and much more. This 14 days of trek will give you the feeling of being in the top of the world.

The trek to Gokyo starts with an amazing fly to Lukla from Kathmandu. Lukla is the first step towards our beautiful journey. From Lukla we will start our impressive journey towards marvelous Himalayas of Everest region.

Some people say Gokyo Lake trek is most beautiful and peaceful than Everest Base Camp. On the way you will encounter ancient buddhist monasteries, Sherpa localities and their traditional agriculture farms and of course the Yaks - means of transportation in Everest region. Gokyo Lake trek is designed by taking consideration of very beginner trekkers. The route is prepared with full acclimatization duration by our widely experienced guides. Important Notes and Safety Concerns

If your flight is cancelled we will attempt to get you on a chartered helicopter but you are responsible for the extra costs which can range from $200-$600 or more depending on the number of people on the flight.

We suggest you to add a couple of extra days at the end (never at the start) of your trip in case of any delays. 

Trekking is not just walking. Some of our trips are extremely adventurous. We kindly request you to come well prepared before these extreme treks. Buying proper and reliable insurance coverage with Helicopter Evacuation on emergency is the most important thing before starting the adventures. On serious injuries or sickness Helicopters can be the only means of evacuation. 

Itinerary Details (Day to Day Itinerary)

Day 01: Pickup from the Airport and placement to the respective Hotels in Kathmandu ( 1300m) 

Our representative will be waiting for you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Once you land on Kathmandu, our representative will transport you to your respective Hotel. Once you reach your Hotel you can spend your time as per your interest. We will meet you at the evening and will be greeting you with our local delicious Nepali food. With the good food, you can enjoy the fantastic Nepali culture dance presentation.

Day 02: Preparation of the trip, explore the town

Today will be the rest day for you. You can spend your day exploring the streets of Kathmandu. You can take the help of your guide for strolling around the beautiful Kathmandu valley. At the end of the day, your guide will be briefing you about your further journey and necessary equipment to pack.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla [2,850 mt. / 9,350FT] 30 minutes, & trek to Phakding [2,650 mt. / 8694FT] estimated walk 2 - 3 hour

In the morning, we will fly towards very beautiful place Lukla which takes around 30 minutes by air. Lukla will be our first step towards Khumbu region and there you will meet your porter waiting for you (only if you booked from the beginning).Lukla is the most developed town in Khumbu region. As the time allocated you will be having your breakfast/lunch in the tea house of Lukla. Then we will be preparing for Phakding which takes around 2-3 hours of trekking. The trek to Phakding is flat and easy to cover. On the way, you will be seeing the very first views of Everest regions. We will be walking through local villages of Sherpa and their traditional agriculture farms. The Yak will be common on the route as they are the means of transportation in Everest region. First, we will follow the trails of Dudh Koshi river and the ahead we will encounter Thado Khola. On the way, you can see the very clear view of Mt. Kusum Kangaru.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar [3,440 mt. / 11286FT] estimated walk 6 - 7 hours

From Phakding the trail goes up to the Rhododendron and Pine forest along the trails of Dudh Koshi river. We will be crossing the famous Hillary and many other high suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi river. On the way, you will see Mt.Thamserku right in front of your eyes. After we pass the paths of Benkar, Chumao and Monjo village we will be right in front to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. The Park has been actively working on the conservation of endangered species and flora in Everest region. In the entrance, your trekking permit will be verified. Right after we reach the Namche Bazaar, we will encounter the cozy village called Jorsale. Once we reach the Namche Bazaar, you will be able to see the first view of Mt. Everest. Namche Bazaar is the most developed town in Everest region. It is also considered as the main trading center of Khumbu region and also the gateway to Mt. Everest.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar, explore around

Today is the day to rest and acclimatize our body with the altitude for further journey. Instead of being idle in your Hotel room we suggest you roam around the village. Namche is popular in having all the modern facilities like ATM corner, supermarkets, Internet cafes and government offices. Or you can make a short hike to Everest View Point Hotel to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of mountain peaks including Mt. Everest. There is also a local Sherpa museum where you can learn information about Sherpa cultures and traditions.

Day 06: Trek to Dole [4100 mt. / 13,451FT] estimated walk 5 - 6 hours

We will make our way in the morning after having a breakfast. The trail is full of very stunning views of mountain peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam and many other beautiful peaks. After leaving the Namche behind we will find a junction from where we will be taking the route to Gokyo Lake, leaving the route to Everest Base Camp. From here we will follow the left side to reach Mong La, which is the beautiful hill station present in Everest region. On the way moving downward we will have our lunch in a place called Phortse Tanga. And then the uphill trail will start leading toward the jungle full of Rhododendron and Pine trees. The beautiful small and big waterfall are common on this route. We will reach Dole and spend our night there and will be preparing for next day journey.

Day 07: Trek to Machhermo [4,430 mt. / 14,534FT] estimated walk 3 - 4 hours

Again we will be crossing Dudh Koshi river through high suspension bridges going over it. Our route includes the route through villages named Lhabarma [4,200 M] and Luza [4,400 M]. The path continues by the side of rivers to reach Machhermo. In 1974 AD, it was recorded that the first sight of Yeti was seen in Machhermo.The trek to reach Machhermo is quite short compared to other days. At the time of good weather and path, we can reach Machhermo by the time of lunch. Machhermo is a small village consisting very few number of facilities and lodges for trekkers. We will reach Machhermo and spend the night there and prepare for the next day trek to Gokyo Lake.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Lake [4,750 mt. / 15,583FT] estimated walk 3 - 4 hours

As we move forward the valley of Dudh Koshi starts to widen.On the way to Gokyo, we will be having a numerous view of snow capped mountains like Gokyo Peak, Thamserku, Kangtega, and Cho Oyu etc. The trail is easy to cover along with entertaining and relaxing. We will be walking through the routes of villages named Pangram at [4,400 M.] and Longponga at [4,700 M] etc. In Longponga, you can see the footprints of Lama in old mud plastered stupa. Then will have our difficult trail as we will have to take the uphill trail to the moraine of Ngazumpa Glacier. Before reaching Gokyo Lake, we will encounter small three holy lakes of Gokyo. Finally, we will have our relaxing night at Gokyo. The lodges available in Gokyo is very few.

Day 09: Hike to Gokyo RI [5,400 mt. / 17,716FT] estimated walk 3 - 4 hours, acclimatization day in Gokyo

To view the beauty of mountains like Mt. Everest, Cho – Oyu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, Kangtega, Bancharo Peak, Gokyo Peak, Cholatse etc. we will have to move in the morning. Gokyo RI is one of the most excellent place to trek. From the top, you will see the breathtaking view of the sunrise over white mountains which is just spectacular. The few time you spend in this top will be a moment to cherish in your whole life. Then we will trek back to Gokyo. You can spend your day as per you want but we suggest you stroll around the locality of Gokyo. Please let your guide about anything about your unwell health. Silence can make the situation even worse.

Day 10: Trek back to Dole [4100 mt. / 13,451FT] estimated walk 5 - 6 hours

Today, we will take our step down towards Dole through the same routes we have taken to go up to Gokyo Lake. We move downwards through the steps Ngozumba of Glacier. Now you can re-sight the view of all the mountains you saw when moving up. We will spend our night at Dole and prepare for the next day journey to Monjo.

Day 11: Trek to Monjo [2,835 mt. / 9,301FT] estimated walk 7-8 hours

After having a breakfast at the lodge we will start our walk to Monjo. We will take the paths of Fortse Tanga to move down and ascend up to Mong La. On the way you can re-sight the view of same mountain peaks and wonderful nature. We will have a short rest on the way and will stop in Namche for lunch. After that, we will continue our journey towards Monjo for the overnight stay.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla [2,850 mt. / 9,350FT] estimated walk 4-5 hours

Today you will be saying goodbye to the mountains and Sherpa villages for the last time. We will continue our trek to Lukla via Phakding village. We will be following the same trails as we took in our very first and second day of the trek. Once you reach Lukla your guide will already make the arrangements for your stay and air ticket back to Kathmandu. This day will be last day with your porter so have a proper goodbye with them and for gratitude, you can offer them anything as per you want.

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel

Finally, the day to fly back to Kathmandu. Early in the morning, we will be catching a flight back. The flight will be same as you experience it before. Once you reach the Kathmandu, you will be transported back to your respective Hotel.

Day 14: Departure or extend your trip

Today you will be heading back to your home will unforgettable memories of Himalaya region. If we got time before taking you to the Airport you can shop some souvenirs for your loved ones.
