If you wish to have one of the most astonishing journey in the today’s narrowing world with the aim of achieving the highest spiritual experience, then come with us on our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal 2025 package.
You will undertake this journey with many other men, women, believers of different religions, sages, and holy men and perform the parikrama (circumnavigation) of the sacred Great Kailash.
However, our Mount Kailash route will not limit you to the 53 km stretch of the Outer Kora but we will also take you on the conquest of the Inner Parikrama of the holy peak. Yes, the journey is difficult and tiring but it will be in the setting of one of the most incredible and fascinating natural panoramas in the world.
Mount Kailash stands majestically on the remote western fringes of Ngari at the impressive elevation of 6638 m. Rising above the Barkha plain, the peak lies very close to solar shaped Lake Mansarovar and the basin that originates the four of Asia’s most significant rivers: the Yarlung Tsangpo (known as the Brahmaputra), the Karnali (a vital tributary of the Ganges), the Sutlej, and the Indus.
Mount Kailash has a very important place for four main religion of the world: the Hindus, the Jains, the Buddhist and the very old Bons. For Hindus, it is the divine abode of Lord Shiva- the god of destruction and New Beginning, and his better half Parvati.
The majestic four walls of the Peak align perfectly with the four fundamental directions of the Universe. Each wall is regarded as the divine faces of Shiva, thought to be made from gold, ruby, crystal, and lapis lazuli.
In the Buddhist tradition, the peak is believed to be the dwelling of Demchok and his partner Dorje Phagmo while Jains regard this sacred site as the location where their founder received the divine spiritual awakening. For Bonpos, it is the descent point of their religion’s founder from the heavens.
Nearby, Lake Manasarovar, or Mapham Yum-tso in Tibetan is recognized as the timeless and powerful jade lake. Positioned just 32 km southeast of Mount Kailash at 4485 m, this pristine body of water is the most elevated freshwater lake in the world.
Here in the lake, countless Hindu pilgrims immerse themselves by its waters and perform the holy ablution seeking the purification and infinite freedom of their deceased ancestors.
Because of this spiritual and magnetic aura of the Peak and the Lake, thousands of Yatris or the pilgrims from various regions of the world engage in the Tibet Mount Kailash tour to perform the Kora.
The Kora is the circuit trek around Mount Kailash which is regarded as one of the most significant pilgrimage routes for many devotees. These pilgrims believe that by walking around Mount Kailash, they can purify themselves of the sins they have collected throughout their lives and protect themselves from evil forces.
It is said that completing 13 circuits around Mount Kailash can lead to enlightenment in this lifetime, while 108 circuits can grant immediate enlightenment.
Our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal will take you on an Outer Kailash Kora trek that covers a distance of 53 kilometers. Beginning from the village of Darchen, the path travels through a flat expanse and then winds along the wide river valley finally climbing the 5630 m high Dolma La Pass.
Then, it descends into another river valley before returning to the original plain of Darchen. This breathtaking natural circuit of the Mount Kailash route is open to all Yatris and travelers and can be easily completed within few days.
Generally, Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists walk in a clockwise direction, while followers of Bon take the path in an anticlockwise manner.
On our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal journey, we will follow this same route around Kailash which will begin from Nepal and passes through Kerung town.
Additionally, we will provide a rare chance to explore the inner circuit of Kailash so you can reach Charan Sparsha and make a physical connection with the sacred mountain.
Here, we also like to emphasize that our Tibet Mount Kailash tour is more than just a spiritual pilgrimage. It is also an exhilarating adventure through nature’s wonders where you will traverse the high Tibetan passes, and undertake the thrilling trekking paths in one of the world’s most remote regions, and encounter the rare wildlife that inhabits this breathtaking landscape.
Along the way, you will also have the chance to visit old monasteries, discover secret caves, and learn about the fascinating mysteries of the area.

A short diversion to EBC will benefit you more with the invaluable opportunity for gradual acclimatization which will come in handy if you decide to conquer the demanding Inner Crust of the Kailash.
Namaste! We are so glad and excited to welcome you to the city and the nation that has the constant blessing of God Pashupatinath. You will receive a heartfelt reception from our correspondent at TIA after which you will be driven to your warm lodging in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, we will patiently wait for the arrival of all our pilgrims taking on the Mount Kailash route together. Till then, you can indulge in a joyous walk around the capital and experience its spiritual aura.
Once all have arrived, our tour guide will arrange for a small get-together meeting where he will outline about our Tibet Mount Kailash tour travel program.
If possible, today, you will all accompany our tour guide to the Chinese Embassy, where you will present your original passports, fingerprints, and photographs to obtain the Chinese Group Visa.
If not, the procedure will be followed tomorrow morning. Once the formalities are completed, we will patiently await the arrival of our visas.
With the first light of the rising sun, we will proceed to the sacred grounds of Pashupatinath Temple with our guide and partake in the enchanting arti ceremony of the Lord Shiva.
Then in the holy complex, we will honor the Lord Shiva with Rudravishek Puja and pray for the wonderful completion of our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal.
Once we are done, we will then advance to the oldest Boudhanath Stupa which stands as the symbol of age old Tibetan Heritage of Nepal. We will then continue on towards the Hill of Swyambhunath Temple and marvel at the beautiful city view all around.
We will now close our exploration and proceed to our lodgings to call it a day.
Our destination for today will be the divine grounds of Suryabinayak located in the old town of Bhaktapur. Here we will honor the magnificent Kailash Mahadev statue which is a true masterpiece that reaches the extraordinary heights of 143 ft.
With such a height, it is recognized as the second-tallest representation of Lord Shiva across the world. We will also proceed to Doleswor Mahadev Temple where we will worship the Shiva Lingam supposedly representing the head of Lord Kedarnath.
We will begin our day with a visit to the enchanting Shivapuri Hill where we will pay our homage to the revered statue of Lord Vishnu in Budhanilkantha Temple.
After this, we will travel back to our night lodging to prepare for our Mount Kailash route. Meanwhile, our team will be collecting our Group Visa for China.
We request you to take a moment to check your equipment and if you lack any, please feel free to reach our guide and seek his assistance.
We will begin our day bright and early for our departure to Ghatte Khola situated in the northern corner of Nepal in the beautiful Rasuwa District lying inside the enchanting National Park of Langtang.
Once we are outside Thankot, the extensive road of the Pasang Lhamu Highway will carry us through Trishuli River. Now, the true astounding mountain road begins twisting and bending at numerous turns eventually leading us through Rani Pauwa and Dhunche. Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang, and Annapurna can be seen marveously from our windows.
Now the off-beaten dirt road will take us forward through Syabrubesi towards Timure and then finally to Ghatte Khola, our first mountain village where we will enjoy a night of tranquility.
We will journey towards the outskirts of Ghatte Khola where we will meet the officials from the Nepal Immigration office. They will closely inspect our papers and baggage, then we will proceed to Rasuwagadhi.
It is the borderline between Tibet and Nepal where our Nepali guide will look after the necessary immigration procedures. Then our local Tibetan guide engaged for the Mount Kailash tour package will introduce himself.
He will then lead us onward along the two hour long drive towards our first overnight Tibetan town of Kerung. Once we are inside our room, we will take adequate rest to get adapted to the new Tibetan altitude.
We will be spending extra time in Kerung town to day so we can acclimate to the refreshing high-altitude atmosphere of Tibet. We will enjoy our breakfast amidst the beautiful setting of high Tibetan mountains then we will proceed towards the Pakpa Gompa.
Here, we can admire the exquisite sculpture of Nepali Princess Bhrikuti wedded to the Tibetan monarch King Songtsen Gampo. Then, we will walk through the town and explore the diverse cuisine the town has to offer.
After we journey a little beyond Kerung, we will come across two high Tibetan mountain Passes. The first one is the 5153 m high Thong La and the other is the 5030 m elevated Lalung La which reveals the breathtakingly striking outlines of Gaurishankar (7134 m) and Shishapangma (8027 m).
Once we descent the Passes, we will arrive by the tranquil shore of the Peiku Tso lake where we may see the wild antelopes of Tibet calmly grazing by the lakeside.
Nearby, we will discover the historic Milarepa Cave, a revered site of meditation. We will now continue alongside the Yarlung Tsangpo (revered Brahmaputra River) and come across a strong bridge. Once we drive across the bridge, we will arrive at the delightful Saga town where once again we will stay indoors for the adequate acclimatization.
After our pleasant experience in Saga, we will now depart for a much smoother journey towards the isolated sandy village of Old Dzongba nestled by the calm shores of Yarlung Tsangpo River.
As we continue onward, the extraordinary architecture of the Dargyeling monastery will come into view. Now, we will gradually be enveloped by the yellowish highlands of Tibet as we proceed towards Paryang beside the Horchu River.
A little further, a Chinese military checkpoint will conduct a final document verification after which we will ascend the 5211 m high Mayumla Pass.
The Naimonanyi/Gurla Mandhata peak shine very brightly in the horizon. We will now drive down for nearly two hours till we are the sacred and the peaceful shore of the Lake Mansarovar.
See the imposing figure of Kailash towering over you and reaching to the blue sky for the first time in your journey.
Our senses will truly awaken by the unique splendor of the Lake and Kailash Peak. After a revitalizing bathe from the waters of the Lake, we will engage in sacred ablution (puja, havan, and yagya) by the Lake then we will board a bus or van to circumambulate (parikrama) the lake clockwise that may take around two to three hours.
If we have enough time on hand, we may also explore Chiu Gompa and its healing hot springs. We will then take on the route running across the sandy desert of Tibet to reach Darchen.
This important village is heavenly blessed as it calmly lies at the scared foot of Mount Kailash itself and so all the Kailash Kora from anywhere begins and ends here.
Once we make ourselves comfortable as much as we can at our humble accommodation, our local guide will give us insight into the preceding Kora days.
If you want to lighten your load a bit, you also have the option of hiring a Sherpa or pack animal here and our guide will help you arrange this. We suggest you tell our guide the day before you arrive in Darchen.
There are also horses available for hire for the Kailash Kora, but be aware that you will not be allowed to ride them on the steep backside of the Dolma-la Pass (about 3 km long) as you and your horse could get injured.
Finally the moment has arrived when we will be walking around and towards the great Kailash. From Darchen, we will journey forward towards the magical Tarboche flagpole extravagantly decorated with the huge pile of prayer flags.
Every year during the vibrant day of the Saga Dawa, new flagpole is always erected. For Hindu faithfuls, this flagpole however holds another significance though.
It is Yamadwar for them, the Gate which is safeguarded by the Lord Yama (the God of Death). it is believed that he vigilantly watches over the souls and permit only the honest ones to cross its threshold.
We will also circle around this auspicious Gate and meet the horses or Porters if hired any. We will now progress towards the Tibetan sky cremation site where again we will encounter the massive pile of several colored prayer flags.
We will now venture deep into the Valley of Lhachu and climb upward towards Dirapuk. A very brief passing-by view of Kailash’s Western face can be seen en route.
Once at the holy monastic ground of the Dirapuk, we will accommodate ourselves in its modest dormitory-styled guesthouse and observe the Kailash Northern face under the warmly lit evening sunlight.
NB
During the bustling Kailash Kora time, the monastery guesthouse may reach to the full capacity. If it so happens, we will erect a comfortable tent for you on the monastic grounds for our overnight stay.
Today’s journey is all about the inner circuit walk of Kailash and exploring and seeing the grand northern face of the great Kailash. We kindly inform you that the Kailash inner kora is not extensive in distance and has to be undertaken completely on foot.
So, you need to be ready for the tough challenges ahead both in your mind and body. This trek is said to enhance self-awareness and facilitate spiritual purification. From Dirapuk, we will continue on to Charan Sparsha which will be completed by afternoon.
At Charan Sparsha, the magnificent northern face of the hallowed Kailash can be admired up close. Many yatris also try to move further towards the base of the Kailash and touch the sacred essence of the Kailash itself.
Some may even venture further to Atmalingam, the Saptarishi cave, and the Ice Lingam. However, the treacherous icy conditions can be very tricky and arduous for some. If you are unable to proceed further, you can stop your walk at Charan Sparsha as well.
After concluding the Inner Kora, we will travel back to our lodging in Dirapuk. If you choose not to continue with the Inner Kora, you are welcome to remain at Dirapuk and explore the enchanting surroundings.
One more extensive, long and challenging day ahead so we need have a very deliberate approach today. After Dirapuk, we will move upward towards the 5330 m elevated Shiva Tsal Cemetery.
Keeping in with the custom, we will discard our old belongings here which can be any item from old fabric, jewelry, a drop of blood or even a lock of hair.
This significant custom indicate we are leaving behind our old karma and sins. We will keep on advancing along the steepening trail over the rocky terrain that will eventually lead us to the top of the 5630 m high Dolma La Pass.
It is also celebrated as the holy home of Green Tara Goddess or Mother Parvati. Get ready for the equally steepening descent from the pass as we pass by the holy waters of Gauri Kunda Lake (5608 m). It is Tso Tuksche or Thukpe Dzingbu for the locals.
As we descend further, we will walk across the Axe of Karma that said to cleanse us of our negative karma. Now the most challenging portions of our journey is behind us, and we will journey comfortable for a while till we make it to the modest guesthouse of Zhultulpuk.
On this day, we will finish our sacred tour of Mount Kailash and after three hours of trekking we will reach Darchen walking past the town of Chasang.
Our four wheel will now be ready to travel us back again through Mansarovar, Mayum La Pass, and Paryang towards Saga.
Our return travel plan today will make us revisit the stunning Peiku Tso Lake, the Thong La and Lalung Passes. Following this scenic route along the breathtaking Yarlung Tsampo River, we will take on the 4 hour drive towards Kerung town.
This will be our final day of our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal. We will once more go through the formal procedures of immigration at the border then we will bid adieu to our local Tibetan crew.
After the welcoming reception by the Nepali team, we will drive past Syabrubeshi once more to reach Kathmandu where we will take the opportunity to relax and rejoice in the memory.
All extraordinary adventures have an ending and so does our Mount Kailash tour package. You can fly back and head home or you can also take the opportunity to prolong your adventure with a visit to Chitwan or Pokhara.

The perfect time for the Mount Kailash tour from Nepal is May, June, September, and the initial half of October considering the climatic pattern and the auspicious dates of these months.
During this time frame, you will be blessed with the resplendent blue transparent sky, fresh fragrant breeze, and unparalleled visibility of the Tibetan and Nepali high Himalayas.
The mercury also lingers between the pleasant heat of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius, while nights remain comfortably above freezing. Additionally, in April and June, you can see the erection of a new Tarboche flagpole in Kailash and even partake in the lively atmosphere of the annual Saga Dawa Festival.
On the other hand, July and August mark the beginning of the rain in Tibet though you may not see heavy downpours like that in Nepal. But you will meet a huge crowd of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims during these months as they believe circling the Kailash during the new moon phases of these months can cleanse their past karma.
After mid-October, the mercury indicates the heat of only 5 degrees Celsius bringing the speedy wind exceeding 20 m/s. the locals often shutter their tea houses and relocate themselves to the lower region thus closing the Mount Kailash route till March.
Please note that Dolma La Pass and Mount Kailash will remain under snow for most of the year and in winter, Mansarovar may freeze solid. Thus the best window of opportunity for the visit to Kailash will be between May and October.
Mount Kailash tour package from Nepal is a very intense spiritual journey but it is also one of the arduous trek you can ever imagine. The journey will lead you to some of the lofty heights of Tibet where the changeable climate is the major feature.
Additionally, there will be some sharply inclined paths that will sometimes move upward and sometimes run downstream abruptly. Thus, you cannot ignore your physical tenacity and strength in this journey.
The most challenging portion will be the Inner Crust of the Kailash Kora and the second of the Outer Kora when you will be overcoming the 5630 m high steeply positioned Dolma La Pass.
The track leading to the Inner Crust and the Pass runs along the slippery glacial and rocky landscape that can sometimes be covered with deep snow. Plus, you will also have to be ready for the higher overnight elevations of the Tibetan towns of Darchen, Dirapuk, and Zhuthulpuk.
Thus, the Mount Kailash tour from Nepal will be the true test of your strength, caliber, willingness, and endurance. To add to the level of complexity, the night shelters will also not be as much comfortable as you are accustomed to.
At Dirapuk and Zhuthulpuk, the shelters will be in the dormitory styled monastery modest guesthouses. They sometimes lack private toilets, and hot water and may not be always hygienic. Thus we suggest you to carry your personal sanitary items for this part of the journey.
During the main pilgrim season, you may not even get a bed in these guesthouses compelling you to spend the night under the tents. You must also be ready for the considerable temperature changes with the day bringing the extreme sun and afternoon suddenly turning into a darker and windy one.
You will be offered the electric blankets but the hygiene is questionable so carrying your own sleeping bag can be a good idea. The menu on the other hand will also be pretty simple limited to basic Tibetan choices.
In addition, the possibility of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) accompanies this Mount Kailash route journey so you must be thoroughly prepared on your part.
We are committed to offering you extensive support and our crew will ensure you have the utmost health, safety, and comfort during the travel. You also have the chance to ease your hiking by hiring the services of porters and horses.
We guarantee that in return, you will receive the spiritual growth and the opportunity to save yourself from the evil sins. So we suggest not to allow the minor discomfort to distract you from your journey of renewal.
Mount Kailash tour from Nepal is synonymous with a strenuous journey for which you must be highly ready and prepared. Once you decide you will head to Mount Kailash, try to watch the educational series regarding the Mount Kailash route.
Take in the details about both the Outer and Inner circuit around Kailash so you have the clarity on what experience awaits ahead on your journey.
Yes, most of your travel journeys will be overland through the spacious four-wheels and you can also hire horses for the Outer Kora. But you have to remember, the segment of Dolma La Pass and the Inner Circuit must be done entirely on foot.
So it is imperative that you prepare and train your body for the longer hikes and also for the elevation gain. For this, you must adopt and maintain an active daily regimen in your life.
You can also undertake jogging, mountain hiking, cycling, swimming, and stair climbing to enhance your strength. You can set a goal of walking 15 km daily or you can simply sprint or ascend the stairs.
Additionally, you can engage in hikes to the nearby locations that reach up to at least 3000 m which will further help in your readiness for this journey.
We also suggest you to focus on improving your mental stamina through meditation which can also build a positive outlook on yourself.
The average elevation on our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal will be 5000 m approximately which is a significant altitude to stay for longer days. Thus, we cannot deny that there is the possibility of AMS in our Tibet Mount Kailash tour.
To ensure your early and adequate adaptation to the low-oxygen air of Tibet, we have implemented numerous acclimatization measures. For example, you will stay in Nepal’s capital for three days so you will first get used to the Asian air.
Once you are in Kerung in Tibet, an extra day is added here for your further acclimatization to the local altitude. Then one extra night is added at Dirapuk for the Inner Kora so you will be well-prepared to face the demands of the Dolma La Pass the next day.
Despite all these arrangements, you may still face insomnia, heavy legs, dizziness, loss of appetite, headaches, nausea, irregular breathing, shortness of breath, vomiting, and fatigue.
If you ever feel any one of the aforementioned signs, please notify our guide who will then closely monitor your health. He will regularly check for your pulse and blood oxygen levels.
In the event of an emergency, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber is readily available on Mount Kailash. If AMS affects you, please stay away from being hyperactive and go down to the lower area or pause your journey for a while.
To prevent the AMS, please maintain hydration as soon as you are in Kerung and aim to fluid up with at least 4 lt of water. You can also add garlic and lemon to your diet like the locals do.
Additionally, you may also take diuretic medications such as Diamox which recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets per day.
For participating in our Mount Kailash tour package, it is essential for you to be in peak physical condition. The Tibetan landscape and air itself are a challenge and the conditions in Kailash are also quite hard. Because of the area’s remoteness, the medical facilities here are also limited.
In such circumstances, some of the preexisting health issues such as asthma, respiratory diseases, or heart conditions can exaggerated. So once you determine to engage yourself in our Mount Kailash tour package from Nepal, we suggest you seek medical counsel and get a general health checkup.
As for the other safety measures, you should also consider the political climate of Tibet. Ever since the Dalai Lama has been banished from Tibet, uttering his name or owning his images has been prohibited.
We also advise you not to photograph the military or the security personnel in Tibet as this could lead to imprisonment. And, always request permission before capturing images of locales.
Always be respectful of the customs, remove shoes, and dress decently in monasteries and temples.
For our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal, we will need four essential permits and one group visa. Among them, the ones that we must possess before we step into the territory of Tibet are the TTP (Tibet Travel Permit) and the Group Visa for China.
The Tibet Travel Permit is the formal document from the Tourism Office of Tibet signifying its permission for us to freely explore any area of Tibet. This small official document contains all our key information including our identity, travel program, destination, overnight stays, our planned activities along with our entry and exit date from Tibet.
So once we apply for this paper, we can’t make any modifications in our travel program. For this permit, we will be needing your photo and passport which we will forward to our partner in Tibet.
They submit your documents to tourism office and then conform our journey. Afterward, we will receive a confirmation letter which we will present to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu to attain the Group Visa for Tibet, China.
Please remember that it takes about 10 to 15 working days to get the Tibet Travel Permit. Our Tibetan guide will have it ready for our travels once we are inside Tibet.
Unlike the individual tourist visa, for our Mount Kailash tour package from Nepal, we will be securing the Group Visa which is a single piece of paper issued for the entire member of a group. It means each member must arrive and depart from Tibet on the same date and time.
As soon as all the group members gather in Kathmandu, we will be taking you to the Embassy of China in Kathmandu where you will hand in your original copy of your passport, photos, and also your fingerprints.
There are two alternatives for the Visa process: the normal or the standard one and the express one. The standard one is cheaper and takes 4 days with the Visa fee ranging between USD 70 to USD 170 per person based on their nationalities.
The express one is a bit pricey option and necessitates only three days with the Visa fee ranging between USD 90 and USD 180 per person.
Please note that the Embassy of China will remain closed on Sundays and Saturdays so we suggest you arrive on any weekdays. Our team will gather our Visa on the day it’s ready, and you will receive your original passports at that time.
The other three needed permits are the Alien Travel Permit, a Foreign Affairs Permit, and a Military Permit which will be sought by our travel partner in Tibet and will keep them safely till we are in Tibet itself.
When in Kathmandu, you will have an agreeable overnight stay in a three-star hotel in a room designed for two guests enhanced with the facilities of hot water and a private bath.
In Ghatte Khola, you will have a comfortable night in a charming mountain shelter again designed for two guests.
In Tibet also, the accommodations have improved much due to the huge influx of travelers, Till Darchen, you will have agreeable nights at a pleasant three-star hotel that provides rooms with private bathrooms and hot showers.
However, in the village near Lake Mansarovar and along the Kailash Kora trek, your nights will be in the guesthouses that generally offer dormitory-style beds. During the peak season, you may have to adjust to the tents set up on the monastic grounds for lodging.
Regarding dining options, we offer you fulfilling vegetarian dining menus for your lunches, breakfasts, and dinners along with fresh seasonal fruits every evening.
There will be plenty of options for mouthwatering dishes both in Kathmandu and Tibet. Till Saga, you can explore the diverse international menu.
However, during the Kora walk, the food menu will be pretty limited to noodle soup, rice, Tibetan bread, and Tibetan tea.
You will have a very ease of travel throughout the entire period of our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal. An included private transfer will be available for the airport transfer in and out services, the Kathmandu excursions, and for a journey to Kerung. In Tibet, a large spacious tourist jeep or bus will be at your disposal for all your overland transfers.
With the aim of safeguarding the health of the pilgrims, the TTB (Tibet Tourism Bureau) has set the age limit for those going to Kailash Kora. Any person aged 75 or older will now not be eligible for the Tibet Travel Permit. Additionally, Indian nationals must be between 18 and 70 years old to join this sacred pilgrimage route.
