4. Walking through Rhododendron forests on stone paved trails.
5. Enjoying the warm and generous hospitality of the Gurung people.
6. Spotting  endangered animals and birds.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Half is one of the best treks in Nepal. Compared to other trekking routes, it offers greater natural diversity in a relatively small amount of time. Annapurna Sanctuary is home to some of the rarest species of animals, plants and birds. The snow capped mountains of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges make the visit to the Annapurna region a memorable affair.

The best part of the trek is crossing the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). Annapurna Circuit Trek provides an experience of deadly mountain crevasses, high mountain passes, Buddhist shrines, ancient Hindu Temples, beautiful villages and cultivated terraced farms.

The trek to Annapurna Circuit starts at Besisahar (820 m/2,690 ft), which is the lowest altitude place of the trek. The highest point of the trek is Thorong La Pass (5,416 m/17,769 ft). This trek requires some prior experience of trekking in the mountains.

Once we reach Jomsom on our way down from Thorong La Pass, we will fly directly to Pokhara from here. The regular Annapurna circuit trek includes a further hike from Jomsom to Nayapul and then a drive to Pokhara.

Trip Route: Kathmandu- Besisahar- Chyamje- Manang- Thorong La- Muktinath- Jomsom- Pokhara- Kathmandu

Best Month: September to December and March to May.

  • 1300m

You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, where our representative will be waiting to pick you up. You will then be transferred to your hotel. If you have enough time, then you can go for a walk in the streets of Kathmandu. The city is famous for its temples, palaces and stupa. In the evening, we will welcome you with traditional Nepali dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant. The dinner will be followed by cultural dance program.

  • Day 02: Drive to Chyamje
  • Time: 8-9 hours
    Altitude: 1,410 m/ 4,625 ft
    Time: 8-9 Hours

You will travel private Jeep from Kathmandu to Besisahar and Chyamche Village. The duration of travel will be about 8-9 hours. The drive to Besisahar will provide you beautiful experience. Besisahar is the headquarter of Lamjung district. After arriving at Besisahar, we continue to Chyamje. We will stay at Chyamje overnight and make preparations for the upcoming Annapurna Circuit Trek.

  • Day 03: Trek to Dharapani
  • Time: 5-6 hours
    Altitude: 1,860 m/ 6,102 ft

We will have our breakfast and begin the trek to Dharapani. Dharapani means tap water in Nepali. After a short trek from Chamje, we will cross the Marsyangdi river via a high suspension bridge.

The trail starts to get rougher from here. We will reach a place called Tal in about 2-3 hours of Trek from Chyamje. Tal means lake in Nepali but there are no lakes in Tal. We will have our lunch here and get a short rest. We will trek to Dharapani after Lunch.

  • Day 04: Trek to Chame
  • Time: 5-6 hours
    Altitude: 2,530 m/ 8,300 ft

The trail gets more difficult and the air becomes cooler on our way to Chame. The vegetation also starts to change. We will reach a village called Bagarchap after an hour of trek from Dharapani. The next village we meet is called Danakyu. There are two trails to go to Chame, one from the northern side and another from the southern side.

The northern trail has avalanche risk so we will proceed through the southern side.  We will stop for our lunch at Timang village, which provides an excellent view of the mountains in the Manaslu range. We will finally reach Chame after about 5 hours of walk from Dharapani. There is a natural hot water spring nearby Chame.

  • Day 05: Trek to Pisang
  • Time: 4-5 hours
    Altitude: 3,060 m/ 10,039 ft

We will enjoy the morning view of the beautiful Lamjung Himal and then begin our trek to Pisang. After walking for a few minutes, we will cross a little suspension bridge. The path is gentle from here. We will walk through the grain fields until we reach Teleku.

Moving forward from Teleku, we will meet Brantang – a village famous for apple plantation. A stone landmark of a Japanese climber has been constructed in Brantang. We will stop for lunch at a place called Dhikur Pokhari. Soon after leaving Dhikur Pokhari, you will get a stunning view of the Pisang Peak. Pisang has two sections, Lower and Upper Pisang. If you reach Pisang early, you can go for a short climb to Upper Pisang – which houses an old Buddhist Monastery.

  • Day 06: Trek to Manang
  • Time: 4-5 hours
    Altitude: 3,440 m/ 11,286 ft

[You have two route options for reaching Manang –  high route and low route. High route is long but scenic while low route is easier but less beautiful compared to high route.]

We will begin our trek after breakfast. The trek takes us through dense pine woods. The trail is flat and easy for two hours until we reach Humde. Humde offers exceptional view of the Annapurnas, Tilicho Peak, Gangapurna, Pisang Peak and Chulu East. We will pass Mugje village and reach another conventional town called Bhraga, where we will stop for lunch. We reach Manang after one and half hours of trek from Bhraga.

  • Day 07: Acclimatization in Manang
  • Altitude: 3,440 m/ 11,286 ft

Manang has many things to get yourself occupied for a day. The place offers beautiful sight of Annapurna, Tilicho and Gangapurna mountains. Ice lake hike and Milarepa cave visit are among the highlights of staying in Manang.

You can go for a show at the Himalayan Rescue Association or you can go for movies at a projector house. There is also a speech at the Himalayan Rescue Association by a local mountain specialist about altitude sickness, dangers in the mountains, best practices etc.

  • Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka
  • Time: 4-5 hours
    Altitude: 4,000 m/ 13,123 ft

We will have our breakfast and then begin a short day trek to Yak Kharka. You will probably meet trekkers with altitude sickness returning back to Manang on your way. We therefore advice you to follow the pre-trek instructions fully and share any difficulties you encounter with the guides.

We will climb steeply until we reach Tenki Manang. This place is also known as old Manang. Tenki Manang offers breathtaking sight of Annapurna, Gangapurna and Tilicho mountain tops. We will finally reach Yak Kharka after a tough climb in the last part.

  • Day 09: Trek to Thorong Phedi
  • Time: 4-5 hours
    Altitude: 4,450 m/14,599 ft

[Depending on your condition and prior trek experiences, you have choices to stay either in Thorong Phedi or High Camp. If you stay in Phedi, you will have a better sleep than in High Camp as it is situated at a lower altitude. However, if you stay in High Camp, you will have an easier trek to look forward to next morning.]

We will begin our trek to Thorong Phedi after breakfast. An hour of trek from Yak Kharka will take us to a village called Ledar, where we will stop for tea.  After Ledar, the trail goes flat and easy for some time until we reach a wooden bridge. The area ahead has landslide issues in the rainy season. We will climb uphill to reach Thorong Phedi. Thorong Phedi lies in the Base of Thorong Himal.

  • Day 10: Trek to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass
  • Time: 7-8 hours
    Altitude: 3,800 m/ 12,467 ft

We have to begin our trek at the very first hour – around 4 to 5 am in the morning. This is the hardest and longest day of our entire trek. We will trek through steep hills for around 4/5 hours until we reach Thorong La Pass. We will walk through ancient trading routes.

You will meet other trekkers at Thorong La Pass. We will have tea and spend some time at the pass. Then we will begin our downward trek to Muktinath. The descent is steep. We will enjoy breathtaking view of Upper Mustang and Kaligandaki Valley on our way down to Muktinath. Muktinath is home to the Muktinath Temple – the temple of the God of Salvation.

  • Day 11: Trek to Jomsom
  • Time: 5-6 hours
    Altitude: 2,700 m/ 8,858 ft

We will take a downhill road to Jomsom, following the trail of the Kali Gandaki river. Our path provides a wonderful view of the Annapurna and Tukuche mountain ranges. Jomsom is the administrative center of the Mustang Area. A strong mid-day wind blows in Jomsom. We will miss this phenomenon as we will reach Jomsom in the latter part of the day. Jomsom is a famous apple production center.

  • Day 12: Flight to Pokhara
  • Time: 20 minutes
    Altitude: 800 m/2,690 ft

In the early morning, we will catch a flight back to Pokhara. The flight will provide you stunning sight of the silver mountains. You will bid farewell to your guides and porters, who will part way from here. You can visit Pokhara in the second part of the day – exploring the Phewa lake and the nearby caves.

  • Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu
  • Time: 6-7 hours
    Altitude: 1,300 m/4,665 ft

We will return back to Kathmandu on a tourist bus. The drive takes 6-7 hours and follows the trails of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi river. The road we will take is picturesque as the path passes through green hills. We will stop at two places on the road. You can also travel by private vehicle or air but it comes at extra cost.

  • Day 14: Departure
  •  We will bid you farewell with a small traditional ceremony. Our representatives will then drop you at the airport – from where you will head back to your destination.
