Kathmandu Chitwan Poon Hill Tour12 Days is a perfect package for those looking for a mix of trek and tour. This travel plan will take you to the three top tourist destinations of Nepal - Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara.
The first part of the Kathmandu Chitwan Poon Hill Tour 12 Days takes place in the three cities of Kathmandu - Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. You will visit ancient temples, monuments and palaces during this leg. Major sites include the three Durbar Squares of three cities, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, Changunarayan Temple, Chobhar Gorge, Budhanilkantha, the ancient town of Sankhu and so on.
You will visit Chitwan after finishing your valley tour. The Chitwan National Park lies in the district. The park is home to the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, royal Bengal tiger, gharial, leopard, wild boar, asiatic rock python, deer, bear and hundreds of other species of animals and birds. You will enjoy boating in the Rapti river and take part in Chitwan Jungle Safari inside the National Park. The cultural show and dance of the Tharu people is another highlight of the trek.
The third and final part of our Kathmandu Chitwan Poon Hill Tour 12 Days includes trekking to Poon Hill. We will first travel to Pokhara - the city of lakes. We will take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara and start our trek from the place. Poon Hill is famous for its mesmerizing sunrise and panoramic view of the mountains. The trek provides us the opportunity to explore the rich flora fauna diversity of the Annapurna region.

Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Accommodation; Hotel and Lodge Maximum Altitude : 1,300 m/4,265 ft
You will land at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Our staff will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in a private vehicle. You will be welcomed with traditional Nepali dinner in the evening at a typical Nepali restaurant. Dinner will be followed by folk music and cultural dance.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

After breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa and visit Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple, After exploring the surrounding areas visit historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess). Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip.
Day 3: Bhaktapur and Patan Sightseeing

Today we will visit the other two cities of Kathmandu Valley – Patan (Lalitpur) and Bhaktapur. These two cities are also as rich in culture and tradition as Kathmandu. We will visit the Durbar squares and the surrounding temples and monuments in the two cities. Patan has the Golden Temple, The Krishna Temple, The Bhimsen Temple, Batuk Bhairav Temple and the Bangalamukhi Temple near the Durbar Square. Bhaktapur has the Nyatapola Temple, the 55 windowed Palace, the Dattatreya Temple and the beautiful pond named Siddha Pokhari nearby the Durbar square.
Day 4: Drive to Chitwan

We will drive to Chitwan in a tourist bus. The journey takes about six hours. Chitwan is a paradise. It is home to the Chitwan national park – one of the model national parks in the world. This national park has won many international accolades for its effort in conserving the royal Bengal tiger and the one horned rhinoceros.
Large rivers like Narayani and Rapti flows through the heart of the district. The rivers are home to gharials and Gangetic dolphins. The national park provides shelter for hundreds of species of plants, animals and birds. Today you will have village walk and evening sunset view plan.
Day 5: Wildlife activities

Today you will enjoy jungle excursion and other wildlife activities in Chitwan national park. Jungle safari is the highlight of today’s activities. There are four options for jungle safari – walking inside the park with a licensed guide, safari in an elephant’s back, jeep safari and boat safari. We recommend elephant safari for first time travelers. Enjoy watching animals in their natural habitat.
We will also visit the Elephant breeding center in Khorsor – at the outskirts of the park. You will see elephants of all age group here – from baby elephants to adult ones. Afternoon you will have Elephant back safari . We will end the day with Tharu cultural show and dance program.
Day 6: Drive to Pokhara
Accommodation; Hotel and Lodge Maximum Altitude : 900 m/ 2,952 ft Time : 5-6 hours
You can visit the Rapti riverside in the morning. We will then have breakfast and board on a bus to Pokhara. The drive takes about five hours. We will follow the Gandaki river (Narayani) up to the place named Mugling. The road to Kathmandu and Pokhara diverges from Mugling. The road to Pokhara passes past the Marsyangdi, Seti and the Bijaypur rivers. Pokhara is a city of Lakes. If you are willing and if time permits, you can go boating at the nearby Phewa lake.
Day 7: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga
Accommodation; Hotel and Lodge Maximum Altitude : 1,480 m/4,855 ft Time : 3-4 hours
We will have an early breakfast and drive to Nayapul. The drive takes about one hour in a private vehicle. We will start our trek from Nayapul. The first part of the trek is gentle. We will ascend slowly up to Birethanti. The path starts to go steeply up from here. We will follow the course of the Modi river during the trek. We will rest in Tikhedhunga overnight. Resting in a place far away from traffic and commotion will be a welcome respite for you.
Day 8: Trek to Ghorepani
Accommodation; Hotel and Lodge Maximum Altitude : 2,474 m/ 9,429 ft Time : 6-7 hours
We will start our journey for Ghorepani early in the morning. We will trek through dense Rhododendron forests for most part of today’s trek. We encounter a beautiful village called Ulleri on our way. We will have our lunch at Ulleri. Ulleri provides wonderful view of the Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna and Himchuli mountains. We will reach Ghorepani in the evening. The homestay with the Gurung people will be memorable.
Day 9: Hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani
Accommodation; Hotel and Lodge Maximum Altitude ; 3,210 m/10,531 ft Time : 4-5 hours
We will wake up very early and head for Poon Hill. We need to reach Poon Hill before sunrise. The view of the sun rising over tall snow clad mountains is heavenly from Poon Hill. Mountains on view include Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tukuche and others. We will spend a wonderful morning in Poon Hill and return back to our homestay. We will start trekking to Tadapani after breakfast.
Day 10: Tadapani to Kimche and drive to Pokhara
Maximum Altitude : 1,070 m/3,510 ft Time : 4-5 hours
We have a long day of trek ahead. Normally the trek is broken down into two days – Tadapani to Ghandruk and Ghandruk to Kimche. However, we will cover the trek in a single day. We will not have much difficulty in doing so because we will be walking downhill today.
Ghandruk village is a large settlement of the Gurung people. It provides perfect rest during today’s trek. Ghandruk is also famous for its mountain view. We will reach Kimche. We will drive to Pokhara from here.
Day 11: Drive back to Kathmandu
6-7 hours
We will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara in a tourist bus. The drive takes six hours. You will enjoy the beautiful hills and rivers along the way. You also have the option of travelling by air. The time taken is much shorter – only 30 minutes – and you get a wonderful opportunity to view the mountain from up above. You will, however, have to pay separately for it.
Day 12: Departure
Today is the day of your departure. We will bid you goodbye with a small traditional Nepali farewell ceremony. Our staff will drop you at the airport, from where you will head back to your destination. You also have the option to take part in other treks and extend your trip.
